Freddie Mercury: Will Queen finally do the James Bond song WITHOUT him?

Queen stand a chance of doing the song for James Bond 25, No Time To Die, according to new odds. Despite not being chosen for the job back when they were performing with frontman Freddie Mercury, bookmakers Ladbrokes reckon the time could still come. The bookies have Queen priced at 20-1 to perform the Bond song this time around.

They’re not great odds, but the band are still in the running with the likes of Harry Styles, Lewis Capaldi and Liam Gallagher.

Back in 2015, Queen guitarist Brian May admitted he was a bit put out that they were never asked to provide music for the 007 movies.

“They should’ve given us a shot at the Bond theme ages ago,” he told The Star.

While Queen could be the ones for the job on Daniel Craig’s last outing as Bond, the bookies’ current favourite is Ed Sheeran at 3-1.

Also in the running are Dua Lipa (4-1), Stormzy (7-1) and Gallagher (6-1).

The former Oasis star’s odds were slashed after he threw his hat in the ring during an interview on Irish radio station Today FM.

“The new James Bond one, it’s all about dying, innit?” Gallagher mused, before spinning a few potential lyrics on the spot.

“Die not next week, can’t be a***ed dying today, might die f***ing next month, there’s a lot of death going on.

“But, you know, they can give us a call. Why not?” he added.

Meanwhile, it continues to be a baffling decision that Queen have not yet soundtracked Bond.

As one of the most successful rock bands in history, embodying Britishness and having an penchant for an epic, cinematic sound, fans would love to hear what they would do for the iconic spot on the 007 bill.

While it would be a shame to have missed the opportunity to have Mercury provide vocals, now could be a good time for Queen to be invited up to the plate.

James Bond producer met with THIS director who wants Moneypenny movie [UPDATE]

Serendipitously, there’s already a connection between the band and No Time To Die: Rami Malek.

The actor, who played Mercury in this year’s Oscar-winning biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, will be making his Bond debut as the villain in the upcoming movie.

Malek, who received great acclaim for his portrayal of the Queen frontman, will be playing Safin, who Producer Barbara Broccoli told Empire is a “real super villain”.

“He’s the one that really gets under Bond’s skin,” she said. “He’s a nasty piece of work.”

Few details about No Time To Die have come out yet, but reports claim Bond will face an eco-friendly bad guy this time.

“The baddie’s lair apparently has a giant algae farm,” a source told The Sun.

“Something like that would look very sinister and green so will look great on the screen.

“Quite how it will impact Bond only the scriptwriters can know but fans will be keen to find out,” the insider added.

No Time To Die will be released in UK cinemas April 3 2020.
