The post reads: “I am very excited to finally be able to share my special news – I’m going to be a Mama! So very exciting to watch & feel this little Peanut growing every day!”

Yvonne’s fans were quick to respond to the wonderful news, with one posting: “Congrats!! Beautiful mama! I’ll have to say, as a fan of the handmaid’s tale, it is a little odd to see YOU pregnant though lol.”

“Oh my god! I’m so excited for you! Your baby will be so beautiful! I hope you will have a wonderful life with your family, because you deserve it. I miss you as Sarah Walker,” another said while a third told the star, “Happy Mother’s Day!!”

The actress recently promoted a wish to start a family, explaining: “[Playing her character on Handmaid’s Tale] has made me wary of starting that process. I just always imagine if I have a child at work – screaming at people or throwing things around – how on earth will that affect something growing inside of me?”

Back in January, The Handmaid’s Tale showrunner Bruce Miller mentioned that he plans on potentially expanding the production into 10 seasons.

“I would watch an episode about the Nuremberg trials after Gilead falls. There are lots of worlds you think of… where everything has changed so much.

“But my arc is still very much the arc of the novel, which is the arc of this one woman’s experience in Gilead at this time, and her recollections that paint this picture of what it was like and what the experience of this world was like, which really is still the book.”

The Handmaid’s Tale continues on Hulu in the US every Wednesday and season two starts in the UK on Channel 4 on Sunday, May 20 at 9pm.
