Kanye West touches on addiction in Travis Scott’s new track, where he raps about his own personal issues with opioids.
The song titled “Watch” released on Friday and West elaborates on his medication use.
“Wanna know how pain feels? I got off my main pills. Bet my wifey stay close, she know I’m on my Bezos. Opioid addiction, pharmacy’s the real trap / Sometimes I feel trapped, Jordan with no Phil Jack,” he raps.
Days before the song was released, the Life of Pablo star gave a very controversial and revealing interview with TMZ Live, where he first spoke about his opioids addiction. West addiction began after he had a liposuction procedure in 2016 that caused him to become dependent on pain medication.
“I was drugged the f— out. I was drugged out. I was on opioids. Two days after I got off opioids, I’m in the hospital. Two days before going to the hospital, I was on opioids. I was addicted to opioids. I had plastic surgery because I was trying to look good for y’all,” he said as he pointed to various staff members in the studio.
The song and his addiction announcement come hot on the heels of a string of controversial Tweets the rapper has been posting on social media. His mindset has come into question over the past couple of weeks, especially the one where he says slavery was a conscious choice. Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner have both recently defended the rapper, claiming there is nothing wrong with him he simply has strong opinions.
Along with Kanye West rapping about opioid addiction on Travis Scott’s new song, there is another familiar voice fans might recognize. There is a woman’s voice rapping at the end of the song that sounds a lot like Scott’s baby mama Kylie Jenner.
“We got bust down Rollies, bust down Rollies / And I told him I wanted to have a bust down baby,” the voice raps.
Oh yes, Scott’s new song is full of big names and lots of revelations. What do you think about the new tune and West’s opioid addiction admission?
