Love Island star Megan Barton-Hanson has opened up about her mental health battle to fans online

Megan, 25, shared a photo of herself and some pals on her Instagram page as she spoke about her troubles with depression and anxiety.

The brunette beauty said she had denied being on antidepressants in past interviews as she saw it as a "weakness".

However, she said she was finally ready to open up.

Megan told her 1.9million followers: "I wasn't going to share this, as I’ve denied being on antidepressants in past interviews.

"I saw it as a weakness, which in hindsight it was the opposite I struggled with accepting help and asking for it because I didn't know why I felt depressed and anxious."

She added: "I'm so proud to finally say I'm off antidepressants after four years.

"I'm not saying it’s a good thing to come off them, everyone is on their own journey!"

Megan even said she would take antidepressants secretly on Love Island when she appeared on the show in 2018.

Concluding her post, she wrote: "I feel so free and like the dark cloud has finally gone, I was so used to them I forgot what life before them in a good headspace actually felt like!

"Sometimes in life we need to hit a real low to want to change."

Fans praised the star for opening up on the post.

One told her: "So proud of you my hun! Love you to the moon bestie! Let's conquer the world."

Another added: "Oh my God I love you, so proud of you my little angel."
