MF Doom has died aged 49, with stars of the music world paying tribute to his legacy in rap and hip hop.
On Thursday evening, the rapper's wife Jasmine released a statement announcing his death, which said the musician had "transitioned" on October 31.
No cause of death has been announced.
The statement read: "The greatest husband, father, teacher, student, business partner, lover and friend I could ever ask for.
"Thank you for all the things you have shown, taught and given to me, our children and our family. Thank you for teaching me how to forgive beings and give another chance, not to be so quick to judge and write off.
"Thank you for showing how not to be afraid to love and be the best person I could ever be. My world will never be the same without you. Words will never express what you and Malachi mean to me, I love both and adore you always."
It finished: "May THE ALL continue to bless you, our family and the planet."
Doom, whose real name was Daniel Dumile, was a British rapper who moved to New York at a young age.
His music career began in the late 80s when he formed the group KMD with his younger brother DJ Subroc, under the stage name Zev Love X.
Subroc sadly died in 1993, when he was hit by a car while crossing a state highway in Long Island.
Dumile started going by the name of Doom in the late 90s, and began obscuring his face during freestyle open mic events.
When news of MF Doom's death broke, stars such as Flying Lotus and Tyler the Creator took to social media to reflect on his legacy as a musician.
