One Direction’s Liam Payne reminisces about band’s ‘best’ tour amid reunion rumours

Liam Payne reveals ‘there’s more to come from One Direction’

Former One Direction member Liam has openly confirmed how much he “misses” being in the band, and has opened up on his “favourite” place he visited while on tour. This month Liam appeared on the FIFA PlayOn Podcast, where he spoke wistfully about spending his time in the platinum-selling band.

As well as selling over 70 million albums worldwide, the band travelled the globe – and one place in particualar made a powerful impression on Liam.

He said: “The way we used to travel around and I mean, for me, South America was just the best place because everyone over there is so passionate.

“The fans are always so passionate, I mean same goes with football.”

The star added: “For me, I went round so many places, it’s such a blur but I definitely loved my time over there.”

One Direction went out on four gigantic world tours, spanning the likes of America, Asia, and all of Europe.

Two of these journeys – the Where We Are Tour in 2014, and the On The Road Again Tour in 2015 – the band only played in stadiums.

Of course, one of these worldwide tours kickstarted the beginning of the end of One Direction. The Asian leg of their 2015 tour was interrupted when Zayn Malik famously quit the band.

The star later explained “stress” and wanting to be “normal” were the reasons for his exit.

Less than a year later, the remaining four members of the band – Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, and Liam – placed the band on an indefinite hiatus.

Liam recently explained he has been in talks with his former pals, however, and even teased that new content could be coming.

In December, 2020 Liam said he would “love” to speak with the rest of the band.

He then explained: “I was on the phone to Louis for a good hour yesterday. And yeah, you know.”

Liam continued: “I think we just needed a proper catch up. Actually it was nice to catch up for the ten-year anniversary.”

The Strip That Down singer went on to thrill his fans with a tease of what could be in store, as he added: “But yeah I’m hoping we’ve got a lot more to come from us… Yeah I think we’ve got a lot more to come.”

The odds on the band getting together in 2021 have been slashed repeatedly over the past few months.

At the time of writing, UK bookies say there is a 1/2 chance of the boyband getting back together this year.

Even more exciting are the 4/5 odds that the band will also release a sixth album to coincide with their reunion.

It isn’t all good news, however, with John Hill of Coral adding: “Unfortunately for 1D fans, the odds indicate that is more likely to be without new father Zayn Malik as he is odds against to feature.”

Despite the chances of Zayn returning being slim, the band have 6/4 odds on the band to play at Glastonbury festival in 2022.
