Rihanna has been teasing fans with drips of information about her upcoming ninth studio album, and in a new interview the superstar has revealed its name: R9.
The 31-year-old singer and beauty guru sat down with Times’ T Magazine where she revealed the name of her upcoming album to playwright Jeremy O.
She said: ‘So far it’s just been R9, thanks to the Navy,’ she said. ‘I’m about to call it that probably, ‘cause they have haunted me with this “R9, R9, when is R9 coming out?” How will I accept another name after that’s been burned into my skull?’
R9 is the name that fans have taken to calling her upcoming album, and it appears that she’s taken a liking to it.
In response, the playwright told her it would be a ‘a gift to the fans who have been hungry for it.’
‘That would be cute,’ she admitted.
With the name all but confirmed, the reggae album is nearer to completion.
She also addressed the rumour that she was collaborating with Lady Gaga. ‘Maybe because she followed me on Instagram,’ the Disturbia singer said. ‘but I’m not against it.’
One collaboration that probably won’t be happening is with Drake. ‘Not any time soon, I don’t see it happening,’ she said.
‘Not on this album, that’s for sure.’
Asked about the possibility of releasing a Greatest Hits album, RiRi said it would be difficult, as she didn’t know what her favourite songs were.
‘I don’t know what my favourite album is – I’m sure if I put all my favourite songs together, it would be a really sick album. Maybe I should do that one day.’
Ok, but can we get R9 first, please?
