There’s a lot of pressure in being the most-followed celebrity on Instagram. With 143 million followers and counting, Selena Gomez has a LOT of people waiting to see what she’ll post next. Like… we cannot IMAGINE how intimidating that must be. That’s why we’re not at all surprised to hear that the 26-year-old singer is taking another break from the app.
As the caption to her latest IG snapshot, she wrote, “Mood lol (I was looking at myself in the mirror -like an idiot!).” Soon after, though, she added to the caption, writing:
“Update: taking a social media break. Again. As much as I am grateful for the voice that social media gives each of us, I am equally grateful to be able to step back and live my life present to the moment I have been given. Kindness and encouragement only for a bit! Just remember- negative comments can hurt anybody’s feelings. Obvi.”
Of course, this isn’t the first time SelGo went on IG hiatus. In August 2016, she posted a photo of herself on stage… and then didn’t post again for more than three months! During that time, she went to group and individual therapy. “You have no idea how incredible it felt to just be with six girls,” she told Vogue, “real people who couldn’t give two sh*ts about who I was, who were fighting for their lives. It was one of the hardest things I’ve done, but it was the best thing I’ve done.”
So far, there’s been no word on what she plans on doing during this time… but we’re sure it’s NOT going to be another magazine cover story. After being bummed out about her feature in ELLE, she kinda-sorta shaded the publication on Instagram Live, saying:
“I try to say things in an interview for an hour, I’m talking to someone and I’m thinking it’s really good, you’re here, you’re experiencing things and then next thing you know… it’s not anyone’s fault, people just want to get people’s attention but I don’t really understand why… I just wanted to be real with you. ’cause I don’t feel like being on another magazine cover ever again. It just… it doesn’t matter.”
