12 Things Every ‘Harry Potter’ Fan Should Do At Least Once

The movie and book series might be over (for now, anyway), but that doesn’t mean your love for Harry Potter can’t live on. Thanks to the story being loved by the whole world, there are many attractions you can visit inspired by the story. Also there are many things you can do at home. So here are 12 things every Harry Potter fan needs to do at least once.

1. Visit Universal Studios’ Diagon Alley in Orlando, Florida

In the wizarding world, this is where wizards can get their supplies and a drink. You can now experience it yourself by walking through it at the Universal Studios, Orlando theme park.

While there, you can visit the Leaky Cauldron pub, Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes joke shop, the dangerous Knockturn Alley, and Ollivanders wand shop.

2. Drink butter beer

Get a taste of the most notable drink from the wizarding world.

Harry and Hermoine would go to the Three Broomsticks to get a cup. You can buy one yourself at Universal Studios, or you can make it at home using their recipe.

3. Try ‘Every Flavor’ jelly beans

Who could forget Ron Wealsey introducing Harry to these? The flavors range from cherry to rotten egg. The gross flavors might not sound appealing, but as a fan, you should try them anyways.

The boxes are sold in stores, but you can also order them online.

4. Visit Platform 9 3/4 at Kings Crossing

Before you were amazed by Hogwarts, you got to experience Harry Potter, Ron, Ginny, and Molly Weasley getting to the train by going the wall to Platform 9 3/4. Now you can take a picture at the site in London in Kings Crossing.

5. Send someone a Hogwart’s Acceptance Letter

Every kid dreamed of getting one of these once they saw Harry’s house and chimney get flooded with acceptance letters.

If you’re very crafty, you can make your own invitation yourself using this video. If you don’t feel like doing that, you can also order one off of Etsy.

6. Have a marathon with all of the movies

You might have seen all of the movies multiple times, but have you gone through them all back to back? If not, you should do it. You might notice things you haven’t before.

7. Host a Harry Potter-themed party

Instead of just doing a Halloween party, go all out with a Harry Potter theme. It will be fun and set you apart from the other parties going on.

It will also give you a good excuse to showcase all of the Harry Potter merchandise you have been stocking up on over the years.

8. Dress up as character from the books for Halloween

There’s nothing like dressing up to show your love for Harry Potter. If you don’t want to have a complicated outfit you can just do a Hogwarts uniform, or you can go all out by being one of the more mythical creatures from the story. Either way, it’s almost certain your costume will be a conversation starter.

9. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child play

Fans can catch a Harry Potter play in London’s West End called Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. The tickets are currently on sale. You can also read the stage play’s script in book form (as seen above).

10. Get a wand from Garrick Ollivander

Ollivanders is where Harry Potter and many other wizards found their wands. You can buy one at Universal Studios at Ollivanders or online on Etsy.

If you get them online, you can knock out two birds with one stone, since it comes with an acceptance letter from Hogwarts.

11. LARP

Live-action role-playing is probably something a lot of hardcore Harry Potter fans secretly want to do. College of Wizardry event is held in Czocha, Poland in a real castle, so if you can travel, you might want to register.

12. Go to the Quidditch World Cup

Quidditch is an exciting sport so it’s not that surprising that muggles have started to play it themselves!

The fictional sport is brought to life in the US World Cup competition held in Rock Hill, South Carolina. There are 80 teams in the league that compete to be the world champions.
