Brits have been revealed as Europe's most boozy hotel guests – but the good news is that we're still making a good impression abroad.
New research conducted by On the Beach surveyed over 1,000 hotels across Europe, rating visitors on factors such as their friendliness, generosity, cleanliness and general behaviour.
The British public lead the charge, topping the list for being the biggest drinkers with 64 per cent of the vote.
Second place went to the Irish with 17 per cent, while the bronze medal went to the Germans with six per cent.
Still, as a nation we proved to be the overall favourite for hoteliers across the continent with 35 per cent of the vote. (The Irish came second with 27 per cent, while the Swedish took third place with 10 per cent).
In fact, Brits topped the list for being the friendliest and most generous guests.
Oh, and we also impressed with our attempts to speak the local language with one in five members of hotel staff naming Brits as the guests who make the most effort to speak the local lingo.
However, it wasn't all good news. The British public was also named the 'greediest guests', but this tended to be mainly down to the amount of food we consume while away (but what better time to indulge than on holiday?).
Meanwhile, British kids were named to be some of the unruliest, with just 4 per cent of staff naming them as 'best behaved'.
Alan Harding, Marketing Director at On the Beach commented: " Whilst we Brits enjoy letting our hair down during our well-earned holidays, we are incredibly popular guests amongst international hotel staff.
"We’re a fun-loving, friendly and generous bunch, and it’s heartening to see that Britons make such a positive impression on our travels abroad."
