Turkish Airlines’ boss Celal Baykal said: “We’re delighted to be able to launch this new route, as Turkey is set to welcome back thousands of British holidaymakers this summer."

He continued: “Here at Turkish Airlines we’re committed to widening our customers’ worlds by inviting them to visit new places and explore different cultures.

“We know Bodrum holds a fond place in British hearts with many owning second homes in the coastal town and we’re pleased to be making it that bit easier to enjoy.

“We hope everyone in the UK travelling to Bodrum this summer will have a fantastic time whether new to the town or a return visitor.”

Bodrum is known for its beaches and temperatures regularly reach 30C – so it will be a guaranteed sunshine break.

The pound has also risen by 14 per cent against the Turkish lira, so your money will also go further when you’re there.

Sun Online Travel previously reported that Turkey is outselling mainland Spain and the Canary Islands combined when it comes to holidays this year.

Turkish hotels have also had to draught in detectives and install CCTV to beat fake holiday and sickness compensation claims by Brits.
