You'll never guess where these truly tropical looking snaps were taken

Forget Barbados or Hawaii – these striking photos were taken in Scotland’s Outer Hebrides.

Alessio Putzu, 30, took to the shores of Scotland during a heatwave to capture these unbelievable images.

Despite being renowned for its rainy weather, Scotland looks almost unrecognisable in the summer sunshine.

Alessio, who lives in London, said: “It does rain.

"But when the sun sheds its warm light on the majestic rugged coastline, on the white sand dunes or on an early morning sunrise at the most windy lighthouse in the UK, it can create a beautiful sight and you immediately fall in love with it.

He continued: “Especially when after a good amount of rain the sun breaks through and paints everything that you see golden.

“There’s nothing much you can do but just enjoy in silence the beauty of nature.”

In one photo you can see impeccable white sandy shores with a backdrop of mountain views while the sun sets over them.

Another picture shows a rocky bay with turquoise waters as foam laps against the shore.

Those white sands look perfect for walking through barefoot – although you'd never guess this beach was in Scotland

On one more, the sun sets over the sea above craggy rocks, reflecting golden light into the water and bathing the whole bay with a glow.

It just goes to show that you don't need to leave the UK behind to find incredible beauty.

Sun Online Travel previously revealed photos of beautiful white sandy beaches which could be a tropical paradise – but they're actually of Wales.

We also took a look at some very Instagrammable properties from all over the world – where you can stay for as little as £10.46 – although there's catch.

There's also a guide to the cheapest British seaside resorts – and one is in Scotland.
