But it remained mostly hidden behind a pile of leaves and grass – so can you spot the snake?

A casual passer-by might not have spotted the snake until too late. 

But a close inspection of the photo reveals parts of the animal protruding through the leaves.

Another thought it could be a red-bellied snake. 

”Red Belly Black? Can see its eyes and nostrils,’ another person commented.
