Temperatures are set to fluctuate between seven and twelve degrees in parts of the UK,  and showers and snow are expected in parts of the North of England. BBC Weather’s Carol Kirkwood told Britons to brace themselves for pockets of sunshine and showers in parts of the West. Ms Kirkwood warned Brits that the gusty winds from the weekend will continue into this week.

Ms Kirkwood said: “And as we go through this week it’s going to be mild for a time but wet and windy mid-week with some snow in the North at times and then it turns colder with some frost.

“Now you can see on the radar picture ahead of the weather front coming in, we will see a bit of snow in the hills.

“Heres our weather front producing some rain, it’s not particularly heavy, neither is it persistent.

“And it’s a chilly start to the day, but there will be a fair bit of sunshine on the way from the West.

Ms Kirkwood added: “Because the clouds building ahead of our weather front and as the weather from moves from the West to the East, it’s going to take its rain with it.

“And then later on in the day, you can see another weather front, this is the cold front coming in, bringing in some rain and strengthening winds.

“Now although it will be windy, it’s not going to be as windy as it was through the weekend, and it’s going to be a relatively mild day, seven to twelve degrees.

“Through this evening and overnight, here the first weather front, the reminiscence of.

Ms Kirkwood added: “And you can see the second one, the cold front sinking South with its rain.

“Still breezy, more or less across the board, with some showers in Scotland where it will be colder than last night.

“And in the South, we’re looking at temperatures higher than they were last night.

“So for the rest of tomorrow, our weather front becomes ensconced across Northern England and Northern Ireland.

Ms Kirkwood added: “It’s still going to be producing some spots of rain, it’s going to be a breezy day as well.

“In the South, it will be mild and in the North, it will be cooler.

“Then on Wednesday what you’ll find is we’re looking at some showers across Scotland, at quite low levels it will be falling as snow as well.

“And it’s going to be another breezy day, but milder in the South, but by the time we get Thursday we’re all going to be in a North Westerly air stream, so it’s going to feel colder than it is as the moment.”
