Belfast to Liverpool ferry evacuated as police search for ‘device’

A ferry has been evacuated as it sat in the dock in Belfast after police were tipped off that a ‘device’ had been left on board.

All passengers disembarked from a Belfast to Liverpool service at around 11.15pm tonight.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland confirmed in a statement: "Following a report that a device had been left on board a ferry docked in Belfast and bound for Liverpool, all passengers have now been safely evacuated and PSNI and Harbour Police officers are currently carrying out a search of the vessel."
