It’s not shuttle diplomacy.
A lower Manhattan bus operator is now bypassing five stops on its free service to thwart ticket scammers, who have been hawking fake passes to unsuspecting tourists headed to the Statue of Liberty.
The Downtown Connection Bus — a free shuttle with 22 seats that connects the South Street Seaport to Battery Park City — has been plagued by visitors who realized they’d been duped only after they boarded the bus.
“There was a series of escalating incidents where things got increasingly brazen,” said Downtown Alliance spokesman Andrew Breslau.
To stymie the rogue peddlers, the bus now skips stops where they’ve been operating — inconveniencing local riders.
Karen Tenczynski, 71, says she has to walk “two more long blocks” to catch her express bus to Bay Ridge because the shuttle has been rolling past her regular stop since Aug. 9.
The skipped stops include: State Street/Bridge Street; Battery Place/Washington Street; Battery Place/West Street; Battery Place/West Street; and Battery Place/Greenwich Street.
