A city Department of Correction captain was arrested in Queens for striking his son with a belt, police said Monday.
Peter Jean Baptiste, 35, was arrested Saturday for allegedly hitting the 10-year-old boy in the back and legs with a belt on Thursday at his home on 224th Street and 144th Avenue in Brookville, authorities said.
The beating allegedly happened just after Jean Baptiste received a phone call from his son’s school notifying him that the boy had been involved in a fight, cops said.
The boy’s mother phoned police, sources said.
The child was taken to Mount Sinai St. Luke’s for treatment for cuts and bruises, and was later released, police said.
Jean Baptiste was charged with assault, acting in a manner injurious to a child under 17 and harassment.
