Cynthia Nixon is hiring a new campaign manager in her bid to unseat Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
The “Sex and the City” actress, who’s billing herself as an upstart outsider candidate to the left of the Democratic governor, let go of Nicole Aro for Hayley Prim, of Hilltop Solutions.
Prim worked for Bill de Blasio’s 2013 campaign and it’s been reported that de Blasio could be behind Nixon’s challenge to the incumbent governor.
Prim also worked for de Blasio’s administration as an analyst on housing and the economy. Other de Blasio faithfuls are also on the campaign. L. Joy Williams, president of the Brooklyn NAACP was also hired to back Nixon’s run for governor, Nixon campaign staff told The Post.
The animosity between the mayor and the governor has been widely reported and, at this point, the mayor has nothing to lose since he’s term-limited out of office.
“The kickoff to the campaign was a huge success as we introduced voters to Cynthia’s progressive agenda, leading to massive gains in the polls,” spokeswoman Sarah Ford told The Post. “As we now bolster or operation for the next phase, we’re proud to be attracting top talent to lead us to the next goal: ending Andrew Cuomo’s corrupt and centrist reign, and finally bringing New York a true progressive leader.”
The campaign did not comment on the reason for the change.
