Mayor Bill de Blasio said Friday that he has canceled his planned trip to Maine over the weekend because of the storm.
Hizzoner said he was set to visit his 91-year-old aunt, Jean Wilhelm, who lives in the town of Eastport.
He also was scheduled to give a talk called “50 Years After MLK: The Path to Progressive Change Today” at the Eastport Arts Center, which his aunt was involved in developing, he said.
“I’m going to cancel that trip, postpone it, go at another point,” de Blasio said.
“I’ve always said if there’s something here that demands my attention, I change my plans accordingly.”
The storm, expected to begin Saturday evening, could dump up to 9 inches of snow, ice over roads and down trees and power lines. De Blasio warned New Yorkers to stay off the roads.
