F1 car races against a 1,500mph fighter jet, £20 million private jet and world’s fastest superbike

The five engineering masterpieces raced as part of the Teknofest aviation, space and technology festival in Istanbul yesterday.

As the starting pistol rings out it is the F1 car that takes the lead, seemingly given the edge on the Kawasaki Ninja H2R by greater traction.

The Tesla supercar also makes a promising start, helped by an electric motor, which typically respond faster than petrol powered engines.

But within moments it's become a two-horse race between the Red Bull RB14 and the superbike.

A side mounted camera captures the Kawasaki's nose rise and its front wheel leave the tarmac for a moment as it's lighter weight gives it the advantage.

Footage over the bike's back wheel shows the F1 car losing ground.

It was a closely fought thing, with the superbike, ridden by World Champion Kenan Sofuoglu, just nosing out the Formula 1 car, driven by Jake Dennis – a British racer who currently competed in the Blancpain GT Series.

The F-16 Solo Turk fighter jet also recovers from a slower start, rocketing to a third place position.

All up, the vehicles used in the race cost roughly £32million.

Emma Kimilainen, a Finnish racer who has taken in multiple Swedish Touring Car Championships, drove the Tesla.

She said many would be surprised at what an electric motor could achieve.
