Social media has exploded with memes after new Partygate revelations of ‘wine-time Fridays’ during the pandemic at Downing Street.

It emerged last night that ‘Wine-time Fridays’ were scheduled in the weekly e-calendar of Downing Street aides during the pandemic.

A photo has also circulated showing a £142 wine fridge being delivered to Downing Street. Boris Johnson is claimed to have urged his staff to ‘let off steam’ and ‘attended a handful of the gatherings.’

Social media again erupted with memes  mocking Mr Johnson, with one saying: ‘FOR SALE: Wine fridge. Cost £142.00. Only used one day a week that I know about. Must be collected from Downing Street. Contact Boris.’

Another meme played on the Simon and Garfunkel song ‘Bridge over Troubled Water’ writing ‘Fridge Over Troubled Water’ and a picture of Mr Johnson with ‘I’ll be with you in a second’ underneath.

And another showed Mr Johnson holding a crate with the caption: ‘Boris was just checking out the new wine fridge.’

The latest Partygate revelation comes after calls for Mr Johnson to resign, as it emerged this week that more events took place throughout the pandemic which are due to be investigated by senior civil servant Sue Gray.

One party occurred on the eve of Prince Philip’s funeral and Downing Street this week issued a public apology to the Queen over the event.
