Four people killed in a head-on crash in Weld County early Saturday morning have been identified, two women who died were senior airmen stationed at F.E. Warren Air Force Base near Cheyenne.
Yasmin Takiah Evans, 22, and her only passenger, Taylor Alize Lipscomb Ashley, 24, were killed in the two-vehicle crash at about 2:35 a.m. on U.S. 85 near the Wyoming border, according to the Weld County Coroner’s Office.
The airmen were assigned to the 90th Missile Security Operations Squadron and the 790th Missile Security Forces Squadron, according to an Air Force news release.
“This is a terrible tragedy for the entire wing team,” said Col. Catherine Barrington, 90th Missile Wing commander, in the release. “Our priority is to do everything we can to support the two families and all their friends and loved ones struggling with this loss.”
Also killed in the crash were Jonathan William Upchurch, 30, of Rockford, Ill., and his passenger Zane Lee Schure, 30, of Fort Collins, according to the coroner’s office.
Upchurch was driving a 2015 Jeep Cherokee when it crossed into the oncoming lane and hit a Honda driven by Evans, according to the Colorado State Patrol. The crash remains under investigation by the state patrol.
A final manner and cause of the four deaths awaits pending laboratory and autopsy reports.
