Goldfish and Old Bay team up for new 'zesty' limited-edition snack flavor

Goldfish crackers is teaming up with Old Bay, a long-standing staple of McCormick's (MCK) "seasoned" brand portfolio, for a new "bold" flavor offering just in time for summer.

The new, limited-edition Old Bay seasoned Goldfish snack is set to hit stores nationwide in early May, with a limited quantity available on the McCormick website beginning May 9.

The saltine-based crackers, which will sell at a suggested retail price of $2.79 for a 6.6 oz bag, are seasoned with Old Bay's specialty spice blend that includes black pepper, paprika, celery salt and red pepper flakes.

"What I find most exciting about this partnership is that once again Goldfish is showing up for our flavor enthusiasts in a big, bold way," Janda Lukin, chief marketing officer at Campbells Snacks, said in a press release.

"Old Bay seasoned Goldfish harnesses the fandom of two iconic brands and brings consumers a new way to experience their favorite zesty flavor," Lukin continued.

This marks the second collaboration between Goldfish and McCormick & Company.

Last April, the pair teamed up to debut Frank’s RedHot limited-edition flavored crackers following a surge in demand for a "hot" iteration of the iconic snack brand.

The offering quickly became the fastest-selling cracker launch of summer 2021, the company said.

"People want more interesting, exciting flavors, and hot and spicy flavors are part of that trend," Lawrence Kurzius, McCormick CEO & chairman, told Yahoo Finance at the time, citing the "long-term trend" of demand for hot and spicy food items.

The executive added that Old Bay seasoning saw "extraordinary" growth throughout the pandemic.
