Grass fire in Arvada on Friday forces door to door evacuations

A wind-driven grass fire in Arvada on Friday has forced some door-to-door evacuations.

The fire is in the area of West 86th Avenue and Fenton Street, according to the Arvada Police Department.

People should avoid the area if possible, traffic is being rerouted off of 86th Avenue.

The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for high fire danger in the metro area, including Arvada. The warning is posted through 7 p.m. Friday. Winds gusting up to 50 mph and low relative humidity, about 15%, has prompted the warning.
