- The family pet Chihuahua was allegedly snatched from his garden by seagulls
Stunned onlookers watched as seagulls dropped a severed animal paw that could belong to missing family dog Gizmo from the sky.
Witnesses said the gruesome remains of what is believed to be a dog were then fought over by the birds.
And pictures of the paw show a striking resemblance to Gizmo – a family’s pet Chihuahua that went missing from his home in Paignton, Devon.
Gizmo’s owner said the dog had been snatched from his garden by a gang of vicious gulls.

There have been no sightings since – but one witness believes she may have stumbled across the remains of a similar looking animal in a car park 25 miles away in Exeter.
And she claims she saw the mysterious paw being dropped and fought over by an angry flock.
Daisy Pugh, 26, who took photographs of the gruesome remains, said she is convinced the paw belonged to either a dog or a cat.
She said she was walking through a car park when she saw the gulls fighting over something – and when she approached the animals she realised it was a paw.
Ms Pugh, of Exeter, who works for the NHS, saw the paw on Wednesday evening – and when she returned the next day it was still there.
She said ‘Last night I was walking back to my boyfriend’s house up through The Triangle car park when I saw some angry seagulls fighting over something and acting suspiciously.
Recently a leg bone found on a rooftop in Totnes, Devon, which was said to belong to the dog but experts later confirmed that it was probably a rabbit’s foot
Ms Pugh said this one was definitely not a rabbit’s foot because it was a totally different shape
‘When I got closer I was shocked to see it was a paw and thought oh my God – it looks like either a dog or a cat, definitely not a rabbit’s foot, it was a different shape.
‘When I got to my boyfriend’s I told them and they all rushed out and ran down the street to see it.
‘My friend felt the fur and said it was soft like a cat. The weird thing is that it also looked as if it had been burned. It was gruesome.’
The spectacle was the second sighting of what is feared to be Gizmo’s remains.

The rooftop was littered with animal bones, including one photograph of a brown furry paw attached to a leg bone.
Experts later confirmed that it was probably a rabbit’s foot.
But Ms Pugh said: ‘This was definitely not a rabbit – it was a totally different shape to a rabbit’s foot. It was either a puppy or a cat.’
