A HUGE £6million super yacht erupted in a fireball at a harbour today leaving people trapped on the pier.
Plumes of black smoke billowed over Torquay as the flames ripped through the 85ft boat today.
Some locals are understood to be stuck on the pier as firefighters rush to extinguish the blaze.
The boat's ropes caught on fire before it drifted into the harbour wall while ablaze.
Three fire engines are on the scene but the water is not reaching the flames, Devon Live reports.
Officials have warned locals and holidaymakers to stay away from the seafront.
The smoke stretched as far across South Devon and as far as Newton Abbot and Shaldon.
One stunned bystander said the blaze was "like a fireball".
It is not know if anyone is injured.
A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: "85ft motorboat on fire. Fire crews called at 11.57am. Three fire engines on the scene. Liaising with the harbourmaster."
