KEVIN Hart is set to face months in rehab following a horrific crash which saw him sustain "major back injuries", according to US reports.
It comes as witnesses described hearing screeching tyres before the comedian's souped-up motor smashed into a tree in California.
Hart's custom 1970 Plymouth Barracuda veered off the road and landed in a ditch in Malibu at around 1am on Sunday, with the actor being in the car with two others.
A witness told TMZ they heard tyres screeching just before the collision, followed by the sound of the car smashing through wooden fencing.
Hart, 40, who was in the passenger seat, is currently recovering in hospital where medics are said to be hopeful he will make a full recovery after surgery.
'MONTHS IN REHAB'
A source linked to Hart claimed medics completed a successful back operation on Sunday evening.
It's been reported he will remain in a private ward for at least a couple of days while he recovers, and will need weeks of physical therapy.
Kevin's wife Eniko said on her way to visit him in hospital that he is awake and recovering and is "going to be just fine."
Shortly after the horror crash, he reportedly left the scene east of Cold Canyon road, to call paramedics.
A witness claimed Hart got out of the vehicle first, where a member of his security team picked him up in an 4×4.
Hart will reportedly have a heavy physical therapy workload in the coming weeks, along with a steady schedule of follow-up doctors appointments.
It is estimated to take him months before he completes his recovery process.
Jared Black, 28, who was driving Kevin's rare 1970 Plymouth Barracuda, was taken to another hospital, as he had sustained back injuries as well.
But Jared's fiance, and Kevin's wife's personal trainer, Rebecca Broxterman, 31, only complained of pain.
Hart was later taken to Northridge Hospital Medical Center.
A California Highway Patrol collision report said Jared lost control as he turned off Cold Canyon onto the highway.
Harts custom built 1970 Barracuda – a 720bhp muscle car known as the Menace – was destroyed in the crash, photos published in the US show.
Hart had bought the car as a 40th birthday present for himself in July.
KEVIN HART’S 1970 PLYMOUTH BARRACUDA ‘THE MENACE’
Kevin Hart’s blue beauty is custom-made by Speedkore, based in Wisconsin, USA.
The high-powered vehicle is based around Plymouth’s third-generation Barracuda, recreating its classic styling with modern tech underneath.
Hart’s car has a Hellcat V-8 Hemi engine generating 720 bhp, propelling it from 0-60 mph in just 3.6 seconds.
Its engine was also paired with a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission, which sends its power to the rear wheels.
The interior was also completely redone, and its dashboard was given a retro feel, to keep the 1970s look.
