At least half of Americans believe President Trump is intelligent, strong and decisive, and able to bring about change, a new poll said Monday.
But his job approval slipped to 41 percent from 45 percent during the week of June 11-17, following the June 12 summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, the Gallup poll said.
The raging controversy over his since-reversed policy of separating migrant children from their families at the southern border likely contributed to the decline, according to the poll.
While roughly half view Trump as intelligent, “much smaller proportions deem him honest, likable or admirable, or say he has appointed good advisers or works well with both parties,” the poll said.
Americans’ ratings of Trump for keeping his promises, understanding complex issues, putting the country’s interests above his own, caring about average people and managing government are roughly comparable to his overall job approval rating.
