LOVE Island star Jack Fincham had to be rescued after driving his £30,000 Golf into a ditch – by passers by who mistook him for Joey Essex.
The former pen salesman ended up with his car in the hedge near Joyden's Wood in Kent – and was remarkably unscathed.
A mum was driving home to Eltham with her husband and their two children when they saw the car nose first into the bushes.
She told The Sun: “We turned around to help as soon as we saw someone in distress.
“He seemed really thankful for the help.
“Hilariously my son thought he was Joey Essex, but he just joked ‘I wish’ and explained who he was.
“He was really lovely and luckily wasn’t injured – but I don’t think his car was in a great shape, it was leaking all sorts.”
'ARE YOU JOEY ESSEX?'
The family were approaching a roundabout on the A2 when they rushed over to help.
Jack, 28, told them he had swerved to avoid another car – but the witness believes he did "something stupid" to end up in the ditch.
Despite appearing shaken up, the reality star was still "full of smiles".
The witness' husband, who owns a building company, winched Jack's car and towed it to the road.
He said: "He seemed a bit shocked when I opened the door, a bit shaken up.
"He didn't know what to do with his car but I towed it out, it was leaking oil and water.
"My son's normally quite shy but shouted 'Are you Joey Essex?' He was quite embarrassed when it turned out he wasn't."
Despite careering off the road, Jack, dressed in all grey hopped back into his 2019-reg Golf and sped off.
The Golf is a new addition to Jack’s fleet of vehicles after he splashed out on a £30,000 Mercedes earlier this year after splitting from Dani Dyer.
Jack won the 2018 series of Love Island with ex-girlfriend Dani – daughter of EastEnders hardman Danny Dyer – but they split in December, with Dani citing "lack of respect".
But just days later she posted another video on social media and confirmed they were giving it another go.
They split for good in April this year, with Jack saying he has had a "lucky escape" as he accused her of showing her "true colours" when she moved on two weeks later.
Earlier this year, Jack admitted to caving into temptation after regularly being offered drugs after winning Love Island.
He said he'd regularly been approached with the substance – and revealed an incident in February which involved fellow Love Island stars Adam Collard and Sam Bird.
Jack, along with some friends, which also included Diversity dancer Sam Craske and model Brittany Archer, went back to a nearby hotel in Maidstone, Kent.
He admitted he snorted cocaine there in the early hours of the morning — but put it down to a “terrible, terrible error”.
The star explained: “I’m in a new world of partying and stuff, and being in circles that I would never normally have been in.
“I’d never normally be in these situations but, yes, since winning the show I have been offered cocaine a lot."
Jack appeared on the seventh series of Celebs Go Dating over the summer as he continued searching for love.
