Man, 24, knifed to death in east London as paramedics fight to save his life in the street

Paramedics fought in vain to save the 24-year-old's life as he lay bleeding in the Barking street.

Police are currently working at the scene of the fatal stabbing in the east of the capital.

Cops have blocked off surrounding sections of road.

Barking & Dagenham Police tweeted: "Police are currently on scene in the Crows Road/ Harts Lane area of Barking dealing with a fatal stabbing.

"Please bear with us at these very early stages of the investigation whilst large scale crime scenes are in place.

"If you witnessed or have any info, please contact police."

The Metropolitan Police said: "He was given first aid by officers prior to the arrival of paramedics but sadly was pronounced dead at the scene."

Formal identification is still to take place but the victim's next of kin have been informed. No arrests have been made.

It comes just hours after a 16-year-old boy was knifed to death outside a McDonald's in Sutton Coldfield.

Cops rushed to seal off the town centre after the teen was attacked just after 3:30pm yesterday afternoon.

Paramedics battled to save the stricken teen, but he died at the scene shortly after they arrived.

Stabbings are on the rise as new figures show a surge in violent crime across the UK.

The murder rate in London overtook New York for the first time ever, earlier this year.
