A 27-year-old man has been charged with murder after a series of stabbings in Birmingham.
Zephaniah McLeod faces one charge of murder and seven counts of attempted murder after the attack in the early hours of Sunday, September 6.
Jacob Billington, 23, died as a result of a stab wound to the neck on Irving Street.
He was on a night out with school friends from Liverpool, visiting another friend who is studying in Birmingham.
Seven others were hospitalised on Sunday morning.
One 23-year-old man, who was seriously injured on Irving Street, remains in hospital in a critical condition.
Another 22-year-old woman, attacked on Hurst Street, is in a critical but stable condition.
A third man, aged 30, is in a serious condition.
The four other casualties have since been discharged.
McLeod, from Nately Grove in Selly Oak, Birmingham, will appear before Birmingham Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday morning.
Detective Chief Inspector Jim Munro said: “Since these tragic events unfolded in the early hours of Sunday morning we’ve had a team of officers working non-stop on the investigation.
“Our driving focus is to secure justice for the victims, their family and friends. Our sympathies remain with everyone who’s been impacted by these terrible crimes.
“Our investigation continues and I would urge any witnesses who’ve not yet spoken to us, or anyone with information they feel could help, to get in touch.”
