Man knifed to death after ‘road rage row between motorist and taxi driver’

A man was stabbed to death in a suspected road rage incident in Northampton last night.

Police were called to an ‘altercation’ between two people, one in a car and the other in a taxi, at 9.45pm yesterday.

Officers discovered a man, 34, with serious stab injuries and he was rushed to Northampton General Hospital.

This afternoon Northamptonshire Police confirmed the man had died and a murder investigation had been launched.

No arrests have been made and police have undertaken house-to-house enquiries in the area.

Detective Chief Inspector Ally White from the East Midlands special operations unit major crime team, said: “This is a fast-paced investigation and we are following a number of lines of enquiry.

“We would like to speak to anyone who may have any information about the incident that took place in Brookfield Road and Randall Road last night or anyone who may have witnessed an earlier altercation at about 9.40pm in Fairfield News, a nearby shop.

“Any detail, no matter how small you think it is, could provide vital information to the investigation team.”

Parts of the road where the man was found seriously injured have been closed by forensic officers.
