An elderly woman was hospitalised with burns after a thug mugged her and sprayed liquid in her face while she was out walking her dog.
The 74-year-old woman was resting on a park bench after taking her dog for a walk when she was approached by a scruffy man in broad daylight.
He sat down beside her and offered her dog a biscuit – but then pulled out a plastic bottle and squirted a mystery liquid in her face.
The pensioner’s eyes were left burnt and the man then grabbed her handbag and cycled away.
The incident happened in Bristol at 5.10pm on May 29.
Police are not treating it as an acid attack but the pensioner was taken to hospital, where it was established she suffered no long-term harm after the assault.
The mugger was cycling on a bike, which was dark in colour with a straight handlebar, with plastic bags hanging from each handle.
His victim described him as white, aged in his late 30s, and around 5ft 8ins tall, and of medium build, with a big beard and an "unkempt" appearance.
He was wearing a couple of dark, waterproof coats layered on top of each other, and dark green trousers which were torn and tattered at the bottom, and wore red and blue trainers made from canvas or a similar fabric.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Constabulary said: "The unknown substance burnt the 74-year-old victim’s skin and eyes and resulted in her receiving hospital treatment."
Investigating officer PC Martin Hudd said: "This was an alarming attack on a vulnerable woman as she walked her dog in a public park.
"Fortunately, she has not suffered any long-term damage from the substance but this was still a very distressing ordeal for her.
"The victim has been able to provide an excellent description of her attacker and I’m appealing for anyone who recognises this to get in touch."
