New mum dies weeks after giving birth leaving behind baby son and toddler

A "bright" and "bubbly" new mum has died just weeks after giving birth , leaving behind her baby son and a toddler daughter.

Kim Sampson is thought to have suffered complications after her little boy Albie was delivered via emergency caesarean on May 3.

The 29-year-old hairdresser, from Kent, was rushed to London’s King’s College Hospital, but sadly died on Tuesday morning.

Her heartbroken loved ones have now paid tribute to her – and have expressed their shock and grief over her sudden death.

Her mum, who works in Sainsbury’s, said: "She was very fit and healthy. We are devastated and want to know what happened."

Paying tribute to her daughter, Yvette Sampson added: "She was bright, bubbly, kind and a fun person to be around."

Kim, who worked at Len’s Barbers in Whitstable, lived in the town’s Newton Road with her mother and father, Louis.

She had a three-year-old daughter, Jasmine, and her son Albie was delivered at Margate’s Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital earlier this month.

She leaves the two youngsters behind, as well as her parents, partner Luke Ilott, and brothers Elliot, 24, and Daniel, 28.

Kim’s family have said they cannot speculate on how she died.

But they are hoping a post-mortem examination and possibly an inquest into the mum-of-two’s death will shed some light.

Thanking well-wishers who have sent their condolences, Mrs Sampson said: "Messages have been flooding in and we would like to thank everyone for their kind thoughts."

Len Jones, of Len’s Barbers, worked with Kim for 10 years.

He said: "She was a lovely, beautiful girl and came to me at the age of 19. I remember the moment she asked me to be godfather to her daughter. She was a great friend and loyal – she had a heart of gold.

"She was a terrific person and a terrific barber. We are all devastated and I cannot imagine what the family are going through."

Tributes have also been pouring in for Kim on social media.

One pal, called Lee, wrote: "R.I.P Kim Sampson taken far to young thoughts are with her and the family & friends at this difficult time, was always a pleasure to see her will cherish the memory’s of the good times we had, she would always say hello pop in have a sing etc if I was gigging so sad (sic)."

And a former classmate, named Tim, said: "Absolutely shocked and saddened to learn tonight of my old classmate Kim Sampson’s passing. Another reality check for us all.

"My heart goes out to all her friends and family."
