New York’s COVID-19 positivity rate marked 40 straight days of decline, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Saturday.
The rate, when measured on a seven-day average, stood at 1.18 percent Friday, the lowest since Oct. 19. The rate in New York City Friday dropped to 0.98 percent.
The daily statewide rate stood at 1.06 percent with 2,041 of 193,450 test results reported on Friday coming back positive for the coronavirus, Cuomo said.
There were 1,688 New Yorkers hospitalized with COVID-19 Friday, the lowest since Nov. 11.
Twenty-three people died of the virus Friday including 12 residents of the Big Apple.
Cuomo also announced that as of early Saturday afternoon 61.4 percent of New Yorkers 18 and older had gotten at least one vaccine dose and 51.5 percent have completed their vaccinations. The state has given out 17,450,324 doses of the vaccine.
