Police search for mum who disappeared two days after 22-year-old son found dead

The mum of a 22-year-old man found dead last week has gone missing .

Karen Collins has not been seen since she left her home in Sparkbrook in Birmingham on Monday morning.

On Saturday officers at West Midlands Police (WMP) found the body of her son, Daniel Collins, in woodland in the nearby Moseley area.

He had been reported missing the day before and his death is not being treated as suspicious.

Police are now desperately searching for Karen, 46, who they believe has now left the Birmingham area.

She left her home in Sparkbrook at roughly 9am on Monday.

Police say she was wearing Doc Marten boots and a black dress.

She had red hair, which was reportedly tied up on top.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "Officers are concerned for her welfare as this disappearance is out of character for Karen."

Beverley Knight, from the girl group Leading Ladies, shared the appeal to find Karen.

The star wrote: "This lady works with my close friend.

"She is worried sick, as are all her colleagues.

"Please RT if you can help."
