Prince Andrew still has huge mansion with Sarah Ferguson 25 years after divorce

Prince Andrew still lives in a huge mansion with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, just a five-mile drive from the Queen's Windsor home.

Royal Lodge is a Grade II listed home on the Windsor Estate in Berkshire, a short drive from Windsor Castle, reports My London.

It was built in the mid-seventeenth century and did not have a permanent royal resident until the 1930s when The Duke and Duchess of York were granted it by King George V.

The Queen's parents used Royal Lodge as a weekend retreat and made several additions.

It was also used as the backdrop for the famous engagement photographs of Princess Margaret and Antony Armstrong-Jones in 1960.

The Queen Mother continued to use the lodge after King George VI's death in 1952 and died there on March 30, 2002 with the Queen by her side.

Following the Queen Mother's death, the property was leased to Prince Andrew in 2003 and he was required to pay for any and all renovations himself.

It is thought that the costs of the improvements rose above £7.5 million.

Along with the main house, the lease included the Gardener's Cottage, the Chapel Lodge, six Lodge Cottages, police security accommodation and a whopping 40 hectares of land.

Following the renovations, Prince Andrew moved in to the property with his two daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie in 2004.

The Duchess of York moved in soon after and often shares pictures of the chic interior with fans on Instagram.

When Prince Andrew stepped back from public duties in 2019, the flagpole that used to fly the personal standard of Prince Andrew was removed.

It has also been estimated that Royal Lodge is worth an estimated a staggering £30 million as of January 2022.

While many will find the divorced couple's living situation rather strange, Sarah has spoken out about their unique relationship and didn’t make any effort to quash rumours that the pair may remarry one day.

The Duke and Duchess of York married in 1986 at Westminster Abbey and share two daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.

They separated in 1992 after the relationship became strained and a few scandals, namely when Fergie was pictured having her toes sucked by her financial advisor, came to light.

They divorced in 1996, but have remained living together at Prince Andrew’s Windsor home for the last 25 years.
