‘Proud’ single gay dad adopts kid with Down’s who was rejected by 20 families

A single gay man who adopted a child living with Down's syndrome rejected by 20 other families says he is "proud to be her dad.”

Kind-hearted Luca Trapanese, 41, from Naples, Italy, adopted his daughter Alba when she was just 13 days old.

Little Alba had been given up by her mother because of a genetic condition that causes a range of learning challenges.

With apparently no place in her mother's home, Alba was then heartbreakingly rejected by 20 other families looking to adopt a child.

But Alba has now found all the love she needs at home with hero dad Luca, after he gained custody of the tot back in July 2017.

Luca, who has worked with children with disabilities since his teens, established his own charity in 2007 which offers disabled kids the chance to socialise and develop their talents.

His wealth of experience meant that he wasn't put off becoming a dad, with his skills sure to give Alba a warm and caring home.

Luca told the BBC: “Since I was 14 years old, I have volunteered and worked with the disabled so I felt I had the right knowledge and experience to do it.”
