A cannibal killer has been jailed for life for murdering his ex-girlfriend and eating parts of her body.
Evil Joseph Oberhansley killed Tammy Jo Blanton and mutilated her body before eating parts of it.
The American has been jailed for life without parole after being found guilty of murder and burglary on September 18.
Clark Circuit Judge Vicki Carmichael has now sentenced Oberhansley based on a jury recommendation.
Police say Oberhansley, 36, murdered Ms Blanton on September 11, 2014 after breaking into her home in southern Indiana. He then proceeded to eat parts of her body, including her brain, lungs and heart.
Oberhansley pleaded his innocence despite previously admitting the murder to officers.
He claimed that "two black guys" had been at his 46-year-old victim's home when he arrived around 4am on the day of the murder. He said they knocked him out and were responsible for Ms Blanton's death.
Oberhansley awoke when police knocked on the door looking for the victim. She was discovered badly mutilated with more than 25 sharp force injuries and multiple blunt force injuries.
The killer continued to claim that two black me killed Ms Blanton, telling reporters on the way to and from court hearings, as well as making the claim to the jury during the trial.

Ms Blanton's mother branded Oberhansley "pure evil" as he was sentenced.
She said: "I want you to look me in the eye and tell me you did not do this. You're just pure evil, and you're just lucky to be able to live out your life breathing."
Another family member blasted: "You are a monster. Rot in hell."
Police have previously said he admitted to the crimes, including "cooking a section of her brain and eating it".

Witnesses included two officers who responded to Ms Blanton's home on the day of the killing and a 911 emergency services dispatcher who fielded the victim's call.
She told the dispatcher that Oberhansley was trying to break into her home.
An officer who arrested him told jurors that they found a knife and a brass knuckle device in his pocket that had blood and blonde hair on it.

At the time of the murder, Oberhansley was free on parole for fatally gunning down his girlfriend Sabrina Elder, 17, in a drug-fuelled jealous rage in 1998.
He also shot his mother in the back and fired at his sister before tucking the weapon under his chin and pulling the trigger to give himself a 'partial lobotomy'.
In November 2018 it was declared Oberhansley was competent to stand trial after initial doubts about his mental state.
Oberhansley has already said he will appeal his conviction. He had also been charged with rape but was found not guilty on that count.
His lawyer Bart Betteau said: "We don't feel justice was served here. We don't feel that that was appropriate for him.
"This was a mental illness case from the very beginning so to say we're troubled by how it came out is an understatement.
"I don't think it's any secret that Joseph didn't ask for mental illness, Joseph didn't ask to be the way he is, but he's still a human being and should be treated like a human being. So nobody's at fault here, including Joseph."
