Writing on Twitter, Foreign Policy magazine security reporter Jack Detsch, revealed that Russia had fired more than 1,100 missiles into Ukraine to date. However, Mr Detsch revealed that according to his source, Moscow still has over half its air launched cruise missiles available for use.

He said: “Russia still has ‘significant majority’ of its ballistic missiles available to fight in Ukraine: senior US defense official.

“Russia has fired more than 1,100 missiles into Ukraine in nearly a month of war, but still has more than 1/2 of air launched cruise missiles avail.”

It comes as Russia has fired two hypersonic missiles into Ukraine from Crimea in recent days, according to reports.

The hypersonic Kinzhal missile was used to destroy a weapons storage site in Deliatyn on Friday.

On Saturday, it was also reported that the Kremlin had fired another Kinzhal at a fuel depot in Kostyantynivka, in the southern region of Mykolaiv.

A MiG-31K jet fired the missile at the warehouse as it was flying over Crimea.

Igor Konashenkov, from the Russian Defence Ministry, said the target was the main supply of fuel for Ukrainian armoured cars in the south of the country.

Moscow claims the “Kinzhal” is “unstoppable” by current Western weapons.

In a statement on Saturday, the Russian Defence Ministry confirmed the strike.

They said: “The Kinzhal aviation missile system with hypersonic aeroballistic missiles destroyed a large underground warehouse containing missiles and aviation ammunition in the village of Deliatyn in the Ivano-Frankivsk region.”

Ukrainian air force spokesman Yuri Ignat confirmed that a storage site had been targeted, but pointed out that Kyiv had no information regarding the type of missile that was used.

He said: “The enemy targeted our depots but we have no information of the type of missile.
