Rushden stabbing victim fatally knifed ‘in brawl after her car crashed into van’

A mum-of-one fatally stabbed near her home in Rushden, Northants, was killed during a fight after a car crash, police have said.

Levi Davis, 25 – thought to be local to the area – was attacked close to St George's Way in Wellingborough Road around 8.30pm on Saturday night.

She was in a black VW Polo which crashed with a white Vauxhall van before an argument broke out, Northamptonshire Police claim.

A 27-year-old man was afterwards arrested on suspicion of murder.

He had serious injuries, and another 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of his murder.

A 13-year-old boy, also arrested on suspicion of murder, was released on Sunday night with no further action to be taken.

Earlier reports suggested that Ms Davis had been the victim of a mugging, but these were dismissed by Supt Dennis Murray.

He said those involved in the alteration were known to each other.

Supt Murray added: "The vehicles were involved in some sort of altercation before the crash.

"There was a fight and, as a result, the person died. My heart goes out to the lady's family."

Two other cars with smashed windows thought to have been in a crash further up the road – a Fiat and a white Nissan Note – were also taken away by police.

A pal of Levi's earlier told The Sun: "What I've been told is two lads were getting into a stabby fight.

"She tried to get in the middle and she got stabbed.

"It's awful that she died like this. I can't say anymore but everyone who knew her is absolutely gutted."

One of Levi's devastated pals said: "She was lovely and didn't deserve this. This sort of thing never happens around here.

"It's really shocking because it's a nice area."
