Another member of President Trump’s cabinet is about to leave the administration under a cloud.
Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke, who has been the target of multiple federal ethics investigations into his political activity and travel, will leave at the end of the year, President Trump tweeted Saturday morning.
“Ryan has accomplished much during his tenure and I want to thank him for his service to our Nation,” Trump stated, adding that his administration will announce Zinke’s replacement “next week.”
The move will let Zinke dodge congressional Democrats, who plan to launch multiple probes of the Trump administration when they take over the House of Representatives in January.
Zinke’s departure comes after a long list of Trump officials have left the administration, more recently, Chief of Staff John Kelly.
