A teenager has been stabbed in a busy shopping area as horrified shoppers watched on as he clutched his wounds.
The teen, aged 18, was attacked with a knife outside JD Sports in Liverpool City Centre yesterday and stumbled into a shop at 11.30am.
It is believed the incident occurred on the street but the injured victim then walked into the store where he called for help.
His injuries are thought not to be life-threatening and he is currently being treated in hospital for his wounds.
Police have confirmed that a 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of affray.
They also said they received calls from the public at around 11.30am yesterday.
Following the incident, a large police cordon was put into place at the scene next to JD Sports on Paradise Street.
The store remained open as usual.
In a statement, a Merseyside Police spokeswoman said: "Officers are currently in attendance of Paradise Street, Liverpool City Centre this afternoon (August 15) following reports of a stabbing.
"We were called to the above location at around 11.30am after we received calls stating an 18-year-old man had been stabbed.
"Upon police arrival, the man was inside one of the shops being treated by paramedics, shop and security staff.
"A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of affray.
The victim has been taken to hospital for assessment and treatment to his injuries.
He is currently believed to have sustained non-life threatening injuries.
Police added: "Investigations are ongoing to identify the offender and officers would welcome any information members of the public have in relation to this incident."
