A mother in the US made a terrified 911 call to her local sheriff’s office after her daughter was stranded in a tree trying to escape a 9-foot alligator.
The panicked mum told of how her daughter was being surrounded by alligators at Freak Creek in Astor, Florida.
She said: "I’m at Freak Creak, my daughter is stuck in a frickin’ tree.
"There’s gators surrounding her, we can’t get her out.
"Please, she’s 15," the mum screams.
The operator replies: One moment please. You said she’s stuck in a tree?"
The mum cries: "She’s in the tree. She got in the tree to get out of the water.
"There’s gators on land and in the water under her.
"Oh my God. Please hurry, please hurry.
"Drive fast or my kid’s gonna get attacked!"
The mum then starts to cry as the operator asks where the teenager is in the water.
"She’s like half – there’s a rope swing where everybody swims, right here at the end of the road," the mum explains.
"She’s like, I don’t know, 500 feet down the water but it’s starting to lightning and everything. Please hurry up!"
The teen clung to the tree for around 30 minutes before she was rescued.
It was noted in the sheriff’s report that the teen looked exhausted from holding onto the tree for that amount of time.
She was too tired to hold onto the tree for the extra 20 minutes it would take for the Lake County Marine Unit to arrive.
