Three schools on lockdown after man spotted ‘walking streets with longbow’

Three schools in Stoke were placed on lockdown this afternoon after a man was apparently spotted walking with a longbow nearby.

Staffordshire Police warned Haywood Academy, Moorpark Junior and Jackfield Infant schools of an incident in their area at around 3pm this afternoon.

Officers requested students be kept inside the schools at the end of the day until the incident was dealt with.

And at 3.25pm, the schools were contacted by the police to say the incident had been resolved and the children could be released, reports Stoke-on-Trent Live.

A spokesman for the Haywood Academy said: "At 3.06pm there was an incident in the local area and police contacted the school and asked for the students not to be released.

"Police informed us at 3.25pm the local area was safe and students could leave the school grounds."
