Trump defends ‘brave’ ICE agents as Dems call to abolish agency

President Trump defended “great and brave” Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers against progressive calls to shut the agency down in a pair of Saturday morning tweets.

“The Democrats are making a strong push to abolish ICE, one of the smartest, toughest and most spirited law enforcement groups of men and women that I have ever seen,” Trump posted at 7:07 am. “I have watched ICE liberate towns from the grasp of MS-13 & clean out the toughest of situations. They are great!”

Mayor Bill de Blasio and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand are just two of the left-leaning pols to jump on the anti-ICE bandwagon that new Dem darling Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez got rolling after her shock defeat of Queens power broker Rep. Joe Crowley on Tuesday.

“To the great and brave men and women of ICE, do not worry or lose your spirit,” Trump continued. “You are doing a fantastic job of keeping us safe by eradicating the worst criminal elements. So brave!”

Upping the ante, Trump tweeted that all law enforcement is in the Democrats’ cross-hairs.

“Next it will be all police,” he posted. “Zero chance, It will never happen!”

A few minutes later, Trump talked up a deal that would rein in oil prices.

“Just spoke to King Salman of Saudi Arabia,” he tweeted at 7:37 am, “and explained to him that, because of the turmoil & disfunction in Iran and Venezuela, I am asking that Saudi Arabia increase oil production, maybe up to 2,000,000 barrels, to make up the difference…Prices to high! He has agreed!”

Gas prices, which have soared in recent weeks, spiked again Tuesday on news that the State Department is pressuring U.S. allies to cut off all oil imports from Iran — a policy that would sharply restrict global supplies.
