Video released by the feds on Tuesday shows the wild shootout that erupted when a gunman tried to ambush an FBI agent in Brooklyn last month.
Clips from what appear to be two residential surveillance cameras captured the action when reputed Crips gang member Ronell Watson, 31, allegedly drove a BMW M5 the wrong way down a block in Canarsie and tried to block in the unidentified agent’s parked car.
The video shows the driver getting out of the BMW, walking around its back and approaching the driver’s side of agent’s car with what appears to be a drawn handgun.
When the parked car squeezes past the Beemer and takes off, the assailant turns around, assumes a combat shooting position and appears to open fire.
A clip recorded by another camera shows the agent — whose face is obscured with a red square — park his car at the end of the block, get out and repeatedly shoot back.
The agent returned fire even though he’d been hit “by at least one round and suffered a gunshot wound to his torso,” according to court papers filed previously by the Brooklyn US Attorney’s Office.
Law-enforcement sources have said the agent was conducting a gang-related stakeout at the time of the broad daylight attack on Dec. 8.
Watson, who lives on the block where the shooting took place, allegedly dumped the BMW at a nearby auto-body shop and went for treatment at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center, where he claimed to have been an innocent bystander shot during an unrelated gunfight.
He’s being held without bail and awaiting trial on charges including attempted murder of a federal officer.
