Why is Christy Pambianchi leaving Verizon?

CHRISTY Pambianchi is known as the Chief Human Resources Officer at Verizon.

On August 9, 2021, Verizon's State of the Business newsletter announced that she will be leaving the company after two years.

Who is Christy Pambianchi?

Pambianchi has been the Chief Human Resources Officer at Verizon since June of 2019.

Prior to that, she worked at Corning Incorporated for over 19 years where she was the Senior Vice President of Human Resources before getting promoted to the Executive Vice President of People & Digital.

While not much information about her personal life is available, Pambianchi is a 1990 graduate of Cornell University according to her LinkedIn profile.

Why is Christy Pambianchi leaving Verizon?

Andy Choi announced her departure in the latest leadership and Covid-19 update letter from the company.

"Hans announced that Chief Human Resources Officer Christy Pambianchi will be leaving the company. She and her team have accomplished so much during her time with us, including throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. We thank her for her many contributions and wish her well," Choi said.

"The Human Resources team is in good hands. Craig Silliman, our Chief Administrative, Legal and Public Policy Officer, will be filling in as interim HR lead. We will continue to execute on the plans we have already laid out."

While the reason for her departure is unknown, it seems to have been a decision made voluntarily.

What did Verizon do for their employees during the Covid-19 pandemic?

In the mist of the Covid-19 pandemic, Pambianchi released a letter regarding how Verizon has handled the virus on the Verizon website.

"In a matter of weeks, [the] coronavirus has fundamentally changed the way we work, connect, learn and live," Pambianchi started. "During this unprecedented time, our highest priorities are your health and safety, and we will continue to address every matter that touches your well-being."

Pambianchi went on to say that Verizon also, "[payed] targeted compensation and benefits to employees who are working from home, working in our retail locations, call centers and network locations that remain open."

"We also implemented a COVID-19 specific leave of absence policy offering 100% of pay for up to 8 weeks, and then 60% beyond 8 weeks for employees who are unable to work because they are caring for loved ones or themself," she continued.

She also added in the employees who tested positive were eligible for up to 26 weeks paid leave.

"There's a line in Verizon's Credo, 'We run towards a crisis, not away.' We don't step back when the world needs help; we lean in and march forward."
