The disappointment of losing your favourite chocolate is something many Brits have experienced. However, Nestle has announced the return of a beloved Quality Street flavour that disappeared from selection boxes two decades ago, bringing joy to fans.

The chosen sweet for this grand return? None other than the coffee crème. Quality Street enthusiasts will be thrilled to learn that the flavour they thought was lost forever is making a triumphant comeback just in time for Christmas.

After all, what's the festive season without indulging in one too many chocolates? But there's a catch: don't expect to find it in the familiar tubs.

This delightful treat will exclusively feature in Quality Street's festive cracker and advent calendars this year. If you're eager to grab one, you can only find them in Waitrose and John Lewis stores starting from 20th September.

Nestlé decided to revive the coffee crème after asking fans which retro sweet they'd most like to see back on the shelves.

In a statement on their website, Nestlé said: "We asked – and the nation has spoken. The favourite retro Quality Street sweet is… the coffee crème. It may have been out of our tubs and tins for more than 20 years, but the coffee crème has not been forgotten."

They continued: "Not only does it have a Facebook group dedicated to its return, but Nestlé receives more enquiries about the coffee crème than any other discontinued Quality Street variety.

“Now its status has been cemented after it topped our poll of most-loved throwback sweets. Receiving more votes than the bottom three varieties combined, only the Almond Octagon mounted a serious challenge to the coffee-flavoured favourite."

With over 8,000 votes for its return compared to the Almond Octagon in second place with 5,312 votes, it's safe to say the coffee creme was the clear winner.

Fans also took to social media to express their excitement. One fan wrote: "Needs to come back permanently. Coffee crème was my favourite as a child, and my whole family would fight over them."

Now, those who missed out on this 1990s staple of Quality Street tins can enjoy it once more in the run-up to the festive season.

Samantha Hirst, Quality Street Brand Manager, said: "We've been keeping the exciting news of the return of the Coffee Creme tightly under wraps, so it's a huge relief to finally share it with Quality Street fans across the UK."

She added: "We know it was the one that fans were keen to bring back when we asked the nation back in 2021, so it's safe to say that we're anticipating we'll see some smiling faces at the news!"

The coffee crème will be exclusively available at John Lewis and Waitrose in the lead-up to Christmas. Both stores will offer the Quality Street Coffee Crème Cracker and the Quality Street Advent Calendar featuring this fan favourite.
