U2 opened the \u00a31.6 billion crystal ball-like Sphere in Las Vegas with this extraordinary visual feast.<\/p>\n
The 35-storey-high interior boasts a wraparound 160,000 sq ft LED screen \u2013 and, as singer Bono said, it made it a Beautiful Day.<\/p>\n
One minute his image was looming over his tiny real self like Gulliver in Lilliput.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Then, when the band played hits from The Joshua Tree, a whole desert day unfolded above the entranced 18,000 fans.<\/p>\n

A Jacob’s ladder stretching from the stage into the stratosphere looked like a graphic \u2013 till Bono grabbed it and beckoned a woman from the audience to swing on it.<\/p>\n
Onlooker Sir Paul McCartney was in awe \u2013 as was Bono by the pop legend’s presence. ‘It’s like having Mozart here,’ the U2 singer said.<\/p>\n
